DOBRE / EVE LAG

Eve came all the way from Canada for a 10-day residency, with nothing planned for her work here. So, after a few days spent strolling around Sofia and our small village, she started creating a huge pile of small "snippets" - drawings of what had caught her attention. Amongs them were objects, plants, bugs, birds, buildings, signs, people... all drawn by hand, as she had decided to stay away from her usually more digital and "clean" approach to her illustrations.

Her print came spontaneously, capturing some of the sensory impressions she got in Bulgaria - this foreign part of the world for her. The way the composition was created (by layering images and papers on top of each other) brought her a nostalgic feeling, which she tried to represent with the colours - less vibrant and crisp than she would usually go for in her work.
